I have read in different presentations some version of the following statement: "Wear appropriate PPE when handling bodily fluids of patient treated with chemotherapy (for at least 48 hours and up to 7 days for some medications)." Does each facility determine what is appropriate? Would the PPE differ for chemo vs non-chemo hazardous post administration bodily fluid handling? Given the reduced amounts/concentrations of hazardous drug, this would appear to be excessive. I am trying to porvide guidance for houskeeping/CNAs PPE and provide feedback to help my nursing education coordinator. Thank you.
