Pass-Through bewteen two negative pressure rooms

My facility is moving and is working on a new cleanroom layout. We have opted to build two negative pressure rooms. One will be for compounding and the other for the storage of HDs that require further manipulation prior to dispense and antineoplastics. The entry to the negative pressure storage are will be located on the "dirty" side of the line of demarcation in the ante area. We are wanting to include a pass-through between the two rooms. Are there any specific requirements for a pass through from negative to negative pressure? Thank you for your help!

Re: Pass-Through bewteen two negative pressure rooms

Erika - we have a negative pressure storage room for our HD (it is not ISO classified and is entered from the general pharmacy - it meets USP 800 requirements re: negative pressure and correct air changes/hr) with a pass thru into the negative pressure chemo buffer room.  During design approval, our DOH/BOP required us to use a pass thru with a HEPA air shower between these 2 rooms because the storage room is not ISO classified.

Erika,

You can purchase a HEPA filtered purged pass-through from AtmosTech. It will eliminate the concerns between the two spaces. It cannot be a refrigerator per USP 800.

Re: Pass-Through bewteen two negative pressure rooms

It is critical to specify the correct type of Pass Through Cabinet between the two rooms in order to comply with USP<800>. The Pass Through must include electronic Interlock, in order that the doors on one side are securely locked when the other side doors are opened. The Electronic interlock is more secure than older mechanical interlock models. Pharmacy staff appreciates the larger 60" or 72" full height cabinets vs the small pass through chambers.
