PEC location

Where is your PEC located in relation to the cleanroom walls?

I thought PEC's should be far enough away from the wall for staff to get behind and clean.

Our consultant says the trend is to place them close to the wall (4-6 inches).  Is this true? If so, do you have special tools for reaching behind the PEC to clean?

Any advice or reassurance is appreciated!

Re: PEC location

You want your PEC at least 6"-12" away from the wall so you can get behind it to clean the PEC.  If you are in California, you will need to integrate your seismic bracing on your PEC to the wall.  If your PEC is a horizontal or vertical airflow workbench, you should purchase casters so you can roll your PEC away from the wall to clean.  You won't need to recertify your PEC if it is on wheels and is rolled on a flat surface.  Hope this helps.
