IV Push Pantoprazole

With the impending shortage of mini bags and plus bags, our facility is looking to change from intermittent infusion of IV pantoprazole to IV push pantoprazole.  How do you provide pantoprazole to your nurses?  Do you reconstitute in the hood and send in a syringe or do they receive the vials and reconstitute on the floor just prior to administration?  Thank you.

Re: IV Push Pantoprazole

We send a vial with instructions for the nurse to reconstitute, and then they administer via IV push.

Re: IV Push Pantoprazole

We have been administering pantoprazole by IV push at our institution for several years. We stock a 40 mg vial of pantoprazole, bagged with a 10 mL vial of NS, and instructions to "Dilute 40 mg with 10 mL NS" in our automatic dispensing cabinets. The electronic MAR instructs the nurse to administer over 2 minutes.
